Frequently asked tattooing questions

Do tattoos hurt?

Yes they do, but not as much as you’d think. Some areas hurt more than others and pain threshold varies from person to person. After a short period of time your body’s natural pain killers (endorphins) kick in make the pain more manageable.

How much will it cost?

Price will depend on size and placement of the tattoo. An estimate can be given once your appointment has been confirmed.

When can I see the design?

I generally send designs out a few days before your appointment to make sure your happy with everything before our session. No design work will be done until you have secured your appointment with a deposit.

Do you do cover ups?

Yes, I can do cover ups. A successful cover up generally requires a bit more of an open mind when it comes to the design and sometimes laser removal is required before covering to ensure a good result. If you’d like a cover up get in touch to arrange a consultation so we can discuss your options.

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?

You must be 18 years old, regardless of parental consent. This is the law (Tattooing of Minors Act 1969) Photographic ID will be required.

How long will it take?

Time will depend on size, detail and placement of the tattoo. A rough estimate can be given once the design has been created.

Do I need a deposit?

Yes, the deposit is £100 which needs to be paid to secure your booking and is NON-refundable. A single rolling deposit can cover multiple bookings and will come off the cost of your final session.

If you need to reschedule I require a minimum of 72hrs notice in order to transfer your deposit to a new date. If you cancel, no show or give less than 72 hours notice you will lose your deposit and a new one must be paid to secure any future appointments.

Can I use a design I found on the internet?

It’s fine to send over designs as inspiration but I won’t do copies of other artists work. I aim to create a unique piece for each of my clients.

Can I use tattoo numbing cream?

I don’t advise using numbing cream as it affects the overall application of the tattoo which can also affect the way it heals. Most stop working after the skin is broken and the pain you feel after it’s worn off is far worse than if you didn’t use it at all. So in my opinion, they’re not worth the additional risk.
